Upscale

A transcript is a summary. We wanted the story.

A GPA compresses a whole person into one number. It says nothing about the club a student organized from scratch, the app they shipped over a summer, the campaign they ran for a local nonprofit, or the hundred small decisions that show real initiative. Upscale exists to make that work visible.

Evidence, not verdicts

We deliberately don't use AI to hand out a grade. The evidence-strength indicator you see on every profile is rule-based: it only looks at how much you've logged, how varied it is, and how recent it is. Every point is traceable to a simple rule you can check yourself. Nothing about it is a black box.

AI shows up in exactly one place: gap analysis. You pick an interest area, and it compares your evidence against a rubric to suggest specific, concrete next steps. It never scores you, and it's built to judge only what's written down, not your writing style, vocabulary, or how polished your prose is, since that tends to reward access and fluency rather than actual initiative.

Where this is headed

Upscale is a place to build and share your portfolio, and now companies and student organizations can discover that evidence too, browsing student profiles directly with the same transparent evidence-strength signal you see on your own. No hidden ranking, ever.
